Summer 2013!

9/01/2013

It's been a busy busy busy summer! So much to tell! I've been constantly taking photos throughout the whole summer but I haven't had a chance to edit them much much less upload them to the interwebs. But here you go, a sneak peek into my summer:

First off, my sister was over for the summer! She's now in South Korea but it was really really nice having her here for the time being.

Next we've got camp! I went to an awesome camp in August. It was my third time going so I already know quite a few people and it was soo much fun. Great laughs and spiritually constructive times! The next two photos are also from camp.

 James! One awesome dude.

 Camp photo!

I took this photo while my dad and I were working on the roof! It was a lot of fun. Freelensing, yay!

Just last week I had a few of my french friends over and we had some awesome dinner and a sleepless night! It was totes fun though.

Yesterday Luke and I went out to shoot some footage for his next music video and I took the opportunity to take some nice shots! I'm pretty happy with the results.

We sneaked into a corn field and it was totally worth it.

My bro and I were looking down on the world from a WWII bunker! We figured we'd try to attempt to climb on top of it and with each others help we made it!

Also on top of the bunker, figured it would be nice to take a photo of the two of us. Luke is on the left and I'm on the right.

I took so many more photos but I picked these which were mainly a little more recent but also made for a nice little summary. My 11th year (technical 13th if you count kindergarten and preschool, ha) of school begins tomorrow!

Renovations, Moving, and the like

7/08/2013

These past two, nearly three, months have flown by extremely quickly. It's been difficult keeping up with everything! We have worked so hard on the new house and it is finally getting somewhere, although it still is unsure whether we can move in in time. (I'll make a separate post for the photos of the renovations, once we're finished)

In the next two months there is a whole lot on my agenda! There are two marriages that I'm going to, one of which I'll be the main photographer. It's going to be nerve wrecking (already is) but it'll be a great experience! A week after those marriages I'll be going to a camp in Germany for a week. We'll also stop by to see my grandmother for a few days which will be really nice.

This past week we've had no internet! I'm surprised to say that it was pretty nice actually. I felt like I didn't really know what was going on in the world instead I had lots of time for myself and things that I usually push towards the end of my day (e.g. fixing my bike).  click the photos to view them larger

This was such a beautiful ending to a wonderful day! I'm glad I was able to capture it.

I went to Paris with a few friends from the states (the guys in the photo above) and my bro. We stayed there for a night and it was really fun!

I did quite a bit of traveling in the month of May (Belgium and Paris stand out but then there were other places as well). Thus I thought a train station shot would be applicable.

I've upgraded: Nikon D7000! I got my new camera at the end of May when my sister came back from the states!

Josh Groban concert. Amazing and breathtaking. Need I say more?

These next two photos were taken for my 52 week project. I think they go well together.

Mid-June my youth group got together and we spent an awesome weekend fellowshipping together.

Another quick photo for my project that I managed to shoot and edit between everything else that is going on.

I really like how this turned out in black and white rather than in color. The color version is on my flickr.

April already?

4/02/2013

I can't believe it! These past four months have passed incredibly quickly. I remember coming back from the States right before new year's eve like it was yesterday. Needless to say, quite a bit has happened since. It just feels like it's all happened in such a short amount of time.

About a month ago I went to SHARE (a conference) and it was a whole lot of fun, as it is every year. I already miss it, or rather I miss the people that were there. I'm looking forward to next year's. When we got home from that I tried to get back into a routine here at home. Wake up, do school, cook lunch, do homework, work on photos, and the evenings are usually open to whatever else I feel like doing or have to do. Yep, that's what's happening right now.

In a month we are going to (hopefully) start working on the new (old) house. That'll be a big project. My sister, Tessa, is coming home from college in two months. My summer will start in a little over three months.. it seems so far away but then again these past four months have passed quickly. :)

Alright, and here are some photos I took recently! To view the photos larger just click on them.

SHARE! Probably one of my favorite shots that I got.

Just when Spring was making me believe it had finally arrived..
IN COMES THE SNOW AGAIN

I have a color version of this on flickr but now that I look at it again.. I almost like this in black and white more! Oh well.

On the left we've got my morphed face which I thought came out great and on the right we have a photo that I took yesterday. The finished product of this photo is on my flickr page

Sunday 2/3/13

2/05/2013

That Sunday was just wonderful. It was freezing due to the wind but it was a refreshing afternoon. Here are some photos I took while we went to the beach near Dunkerque. (click on the photos to see them enlarged)

This last one was just a photo I took during an outing a while ago.. I liked the red a lot so I decided to put this up as well.

The River Claimed Him

1/10/2013

He looked down at the river. Hundred's of feet below him it roared on and on and on. Hypnotized by each unique gush of water, he kept his gaze fixed upon it. The river was calling him, beckoning him to join. He wanted to dance with the water but little did he realize that the river still tumbled hundred's of feet below. Unconscious of the fact that he was inching his way forward, little by little, he grew closer and closer to the imposing danger. One last bit and he would be with the river forever.

This story literally jumped at me when I saw the bridge where I took this photo. I'm pretty happy with it. Granted, it's not perfect, but that's the fun in art - you can always excel!

This next photo is of Luke jumping in the air (duh). I called it "in my dreams I can fly". Luke and I took this photo partly because he needed something for a song he was putting up on Youtube and partly because I've been wanting to try something like this. I also used this photo as a start for a 52 week project that I'm doing. Basically I post a photo every week for 52 weeks (on flickr).
